Vitamin C

Vitamin C has been a skincare buzzword for a while now, but you may not know what it actually does. Vitamin C or Ascorbic Acid has become super popular due to it’s ability to promote collagen production, help ageing and firm your skin, but it’s main benefit is it can help lighten hyperpigmentation and dark spots and brighten in general, leaving your skin glowy and radiant.

Whilst not everyone will experience all of these benefits from vitamin c, it can be a really great product to include in your routine if you feel you need any of the effects listed above.

It can used morning or evening, although I have heard that when used with sunscreen, vitamin c can be extra effective as well as creating a barrier for you skin, so I like to use it in the morning. I have been using vitamin c now for just under a year and I definitely think my skin is much brighter.

The first vitamin c serum that I tried was The Inkey List 15% Vitamin C and EGF Serum. EGF is a peptide that helps skin regenerate to provide plumper and more youthful-looking skin. This is used alongside 15% vitamin C. The brand specifically claim that this product is good for city dwellers as it can help with pollution damage which is why I thought it may be good for me. I also have never met an Inkey List product that I don’t like so I thought that was a great start!

This formula is SUPER lightweight, in fact it almost feels like water. This means it doesn’t feel heavy on your skin and sits really nicely under other skincare and makeup. I also really like that it has a pump. Vitamin C can be quite unstable, meaning it goes off quite quickly, so any packaging that means the formula doesn’t hit the air, is great. I have read that it can take a while to see an affect from Vitamin C, 6-8 weeks in most cases, so don’t be complacent if there isn’t an immediate effect!

In general, I think this is a great product and as an introduction into Vitamin C it is very effective. I have however decided not to repurchase as I wanted to try some other brands and formulas to see is there’s anything else I prefer. I’ll let you know!!

I hope you learnt something from this post and let me know if you’d like me to discuss anything else!

Lots of love,

Lily x
