In my last post I walked you through the different forms of chemical exfoliation. And whilst I think they are great, that doesn’t mean that every product will work wonders for you. Exhibit A: The Pixi Glow Tonic.
If you follow beauty trends then you will most likely know this iconic peach bottle. It is a 5% Glycolic Acid solution by Pixi Beauty which helps to resurface the skin, providing a heathy glow. It can be used as an all over toner or a treatment on specific problem areas. Pixi as a brand have some great products, with fair pricing and aesthetically pleasing packaging.
When I used this product for the first time I was blown away, I woke up with brighter and clearer looking skin and I was so excited! However, as I began to use it more I noticed that the effect was less impressive and I started getting little bumps on my skin. I recently tried to introduce it back into my routine and I had the same effect. It is therefore quite likely that the formula is a little too harsh for my skin, potentially also due to its high concentration of fragrance.
NEVERTHELESS, I didn’t throw it away. With the amount of waste in the beauty industry, I always try and find a use for products, even if I don’t like them.
I therefore started to use it on the less sensitive parts of my body as the face isn’t the only place that might need some exfoliation. Your body skin is a lot thicker and stronger than that of your face so it is less likely to be sensitive to products. I put it on the backs of my legs and arms, but it could also exfoliate your feet or your back etc. And it’s worked much better for me- smooth legs here I come! I don’t think I would re-purchase this product as I have other body exfoliating products that I prefer, but I’m very happy to have found a use for it.
Always remember, if a product doesn’t work for your face, don’t waste it, it can work on the body too! If you have any similar examples, leave them in the comments.
