Everyone's skin is different and that means that not every product will work for everyone. Dry skin may need thick moisturisers and oils, oily skin may benefit from lightweight hydration and refining toners, so on and so forth. One of the great movements that has been happening in the beauty industry is the introduction of products that can be personalised depending on your individual skin concerns.
In the past, if you wanted products that were customised and mixed to your needs, you'd normally have to go to a professional (worth noting that this still is the best way). However, many brands have now found ways of offering this service, but in the mainstream. One of these brands being Clinique, who launched their 'Clinique iD' range in 2018. The collection started off as 3 moisturiser bases (jelly, lotion, gel) with 5 active cartridges that insert into the product. Their range has now expanded and they have new base and cartridge options, including a tinted bb cream.
The cartridges can treat concerns like fine lines, dullness, irritation, enlarged pores or spots etc., whilst the base can be chosen based on your preferred type of moisturiser.
I decided that i had to give this product a go. I chose the Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly + (as it was summer and I wanted a lightweight texture with maximum hydration) alongside the active cartridge for Fatigue (which helps with energising and reviving glow).
My overall impression of this was really good. I like the feel of the moisturiser, it was very lightweight but i felt like my skin was hydrated. It's also cool as when you pump it out, you can see a tiny drop of the active booster that gets added in. As for the 'energising and glow' benefits, i feel like i already use products that have these claims (eg vitamin c) so i can't really say whether it worked (fingers crossed it did!). I think the packaging is simple and effective and i love the idea that you could choose different cartridges and bases for different purposes.
In general, i think this is a really great product. I can't speak for all the different variations, but i guess that's what great about it- it's personal! I definitely think we will be seeing more personalisable skincare options launching in the next few years... and I'm not mad about it!
Let me know if you have tried it or if there's anything else you'd like me to discuss!
Thanks for reading!
Lots of love,
Lily x
