I can’t get enough of hydration. Whether that be through oils, serums, masks or mists, I think it’s one of the most important parts of my skincare routine. When my skin is hydrated it glows more, makes makeup look more natural and generally makes me feel fab!
If you also love hydrating then you have to learn about Hyaluronic Acid (HA). HA has become a real beauty buzzword in recent years due to its ability to attract up to 1000 times its weight in water. In other words, it is SUPER hydrating. HA is found naturally in the skin and its main function is to retain water and keep your tissues well lubricated. However, the natural aging process and exposure to things like the sun, smoking and pollution can decrease its amounts in the skin. Hence why a HA moisturiser or dedicated HA serum can be so beneficial.
This serum is Glossier’s Super Bounce Serum which has a 2% HA complex and Pro-Vitamin B5. What is great about this product is that it has three different molecular weights of HA which will all penetrate the skin differently (meaning better hydration) and the Pro Vitamin B5 also helps to promote long-term healthy, moisturised skin. It is also fragrance free.
The serum wasn’t sticky and sunk into the skin really nicely. I used it every morning after cleansing and before moisturiser and sun-cream and it was a very enjoyable experience. Whilst I didn’t notice any drastic change in my skin condition, I do use a lot of other hydrating products so I wasn’t expecting that anyway.
A quick note about using Hyaluronic Acid is that it tends to draw moisture from it’s environment. This means that if you use a HA serum by itself it could draw moisture out of your skin making you drier in the long run. It’s therefore quite important that you are using a moisturiser over the top of a serum to seal in all the hydrating goodness!
For this product you get 30ml for £24 and it comes in lovely glass packaging which you would expect from Glossier! If you’re not convinced, go read the reviews online… they’re pretty impressive! Glossier also sell a few other serums for other skin concerns which are similarly raved about although if you fancy trying a different HA product, there is an abundance sold online and at other stores.
Overall a winner!
