HERO PRODUCT!

Updated: Feb 15, 2021

I recently discussed Hyaluronic Acid which is a super hydrating ingredient but today I’m talking all about Polyglutamic Acid which is it’s arguably bigger and better older sister. It claims to be 4 times more hydrating than HA (4 times?!). It can improve skin elasticity and plumpness, prevent water loss and increases natural moisture levels- what’s not to like!

Alike HA, it is naturally found in the skin and is a humectant so draws in moisture. Where it differs is that they penetrate the skin differently. PGA is a larger molecule meaning it can’t be absorbed as much. Whilst this might seem like a negative, it just means that the effect is slightly different: it can really help to minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines and help the upper layers of the skin to stay super hydrated.

Whilst Polyglutamic Acid is becoming more and more popular, there are still a limited number of brands that use it. One of the first dedicated PGA serums is made by The Inkey List which is how I first found out about it. The serum has 3% PGA and is really lightweight- leaving your skin smooth, glowy and super hydrated. Apply after cleansing and before moisturiser.

I have been using this product for nearly 3 years and I am absolutely obsessed! I definitely notice a difference in my skin if I don’t use it for a while. When researching HA and PGA I found that many people suggest that in order to get the best level of hydration, using both is beneficial. And so, whilst I used to use PGA every morning and night, I now use HA in the mornings and PGA in the evenings. It seems to be working pretty well so far!

If you hadn’t realised already, I love this product and the effect that it has had on my skin. I will certainly be repurchasing this over and over again!

Let me know if you’ve tried Polyglutamic Acid and what you thought! If you have any questions leave them below and be sure to subscribe using your email to be notified every time I post!

Lots of love,

Lily x
