Beta Hydroxy Acids...

I spoke a while ago about skincare acids and the amazing effect that they can have on the skin. In brief: AHA’s resurface the skin to help wrinkles, texture and dullness, BHA’s penetrate deeper into pores to clear out blackheads and spots and PHA’s also help to resurface but much more gently. The term ‘acid’ can sound quite scary. However, when used correctly and in small quantities, they can be extremely effective in treating various skin concerns.

The Inkey List’s ‘Beta Hydroxy Acid’ was introduced into my skin routine when I began to read about how it can be used to treat spots and acne. I generally don’t get tons of spots, but when they appear they tend to be quite red and scar easily. It’s therefore super important for me that I steer clear of picking or squeezing my spots (easier said than done!).

This product is perfect for those that suffer with acne, blackheads and breakouts or people with oily skin as it helps to control excess sebum production. The formula is super lightweight and also contains hyaluronic acid for hydration. I normally use this product topically, on my spots, and then make sure to really moisturise my skin after and it certainly can work magic! I can normally see a difference overnight! It can also be used as an all over face treatment if you feel your skin is clogged and inflamed.

It is definitely worth mentioning, that any skincare acid will weaken your skin barrier slightly and hence nourishing with oils and moisturisers is always a good idea and protecting with SPF is absolutely essential! You’ll probably know by now that I wear a suncream every day, but if you don’t, make sure to use one after an acid.

Generally, I tend to always love products from The Inkey List as they have really innovative and effective formulas and ingredients at affordable prices. This product is no different!

Have you tried acids? If so, what do you think! Let me know below. And make sure to subscribe with your email to be notified every time I post.

Lots of love,
